Cement exports up 1.9pc in July-November

The cement exports from the country witnessed an increase of 1.90 percent during first five months (July-November) of current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The exports during the period under review were recorded at $229.849 million compared to the exports of $225.557 million in July-November (2013-14), according to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Similarly, gems exports also witnessed a sharp increase of 39.82 percent during the period July-November 2014-15 against same period of last year.

The exports of gems were recorded $3.743 million during the period under review as compared to that of $2.677 million during July-November 2013-14.

The exports of furniture during first five months of current fiscal year also increased from $3.125 million to $3.072 million during same period of last year thus showing an increase of 1.73 percent.

The exports of jewellery however plunged by 98.03 percent during July-November 2014-15.

The molasses exports also decreased by 74.91 percent from $15.388 million in July-November 2014-13 to $3.861 million this year.

Similarly the handicrafts exports during the period under review increased from $38,000 to $2.43 million this year.

On year on year and month on month basis the cement exports in November 2014 also surged by 28.06 percent and 25.7 percent against November 2013 and October 2014 respectively.

The exports increased from $35.782 million in November 2013 and $41.244 million in October 2014 to $45.821 million in November this year.

The gems exports in November 2014 increased by 95.12 percent and 134.8 percent when compared to that of November 2013 and October 2014.

The exports during November 2014 were recorded at $1.120 million while during November 2013 and October 2014 the gems exports were recorded at $574000 in November 2013 and $477000 in October 2014.

The jewellery exports in November 2014 decreased by 99 percent and 59.72 percent when compared to that of November 2013 and October 2014.

The exports decreased from $62.525 million in November 2013 and $1.44 million in October 2014 to $580,000 in November 2014.
