In Pakistan, firefighters face immense challenges due to insufficient training, safety issues, dearth of necessary equipment, faulty wireless communication systems, low quality uniforms and improper accommodation. Moreover the firemen feel unappreciated and underpaid due to meagre salaries. These problems also hinder fire departments to promptly respond and yield result-oriented operation in emergency situation and crisis. As a result, fire rescue services are often accused of inefficiency and mismanagement.
Firefighting is a selfless job which requires technical skills and courage. Firemen combat fire to prevent loss of life and destruction of property and environment by risking their own life. Therefore, I appeal the concerned authorities to take notice of the poor condition of firefighters.
