Tight security ordered on 12th Rabi ul-Awwal

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Haider Jamali on Monday directed tight security measures for the 12th Rabi ul-Awwal.

He asked District Police that in coordination with the specialized units all-out security measures be taken in the holy month and particularly on the occasion of Eid Milad Nabi.

IGP was informed that in meetings with religious scholars the security situation has been discussed and recommendations made regarding proactive security measures in light of the contingency plan. According to these measures no participant of the Eid Milad procession would be allowed to brandish weapons. Only vehicles with security stickers will be allowed to participate in the procession and for other cars and vehicles proper parking areas have been specified.

SHOs would be patrolling the routes of procession areas and bound to communicate with Central Police Office Command and Control Centre. Snap checking would be a part of the security measures, the bomb disposal squad and special branches would be ready for quick response in case of any untoward incident.
