NACTA sets up 1717 helpline to report terror-related complaints

ISLAMABAD-

The National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) on Tuesday announced to launch a dedicated telephone line extension 1717 to report terrorism and terror-related complaints, private media reported.

The 1717 emergency helpline would be working round the clock and is said to have a state-of-the-art system.

The Interior Minister has appealed to all citizens to remain watchful and report on the given extension in case of finding signs of suspicious activities around them.

The launch of the helpline is part of the anti-terrorism strategy of the government after the brutal attack of terrorists on the Army Public School in Peshawar.

More than 140 people were killed and several were injured after several militants attacked Army Public School on Dec 16.

All the major political stakeholders in the country joined heads after the incident and decided to devise a joint-national strategy to counter terrorism.
