Govt, PTI negotiators meet for ‘decisive’ talks today
As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government’s negotiating teams gear to meet up for a “decisive” round of talks today (Tuesday), PTI Chairman Imran Khan has announced that his party will not return to assemblies until the proposed judicial commission comes up with its findings regarding alleged rigging in General Elections 2013.
After their talks on Saturday, both negotiating teams had decided to consult their respective leadership for seeking guidance on three points of contention and had expressed hope that these would be resolved during Tuesday’s round of talks.
Moreover, the PTI core committee has warned that the party might resort to street protests and sit-ins, in case a consensus is not reached in the talks on the formation of a judicial commission.
In the meanwhile, addressing a press conference at his Bani Gala residence on Monday, Khan said the deadlock persists with the government on three points over the formation of the judicial commission. These three pointed, he added were earlier accepted by the government.
He demanded the government to end terrorism cases against PTI leaders and investigate the murder of PTI activist Haq Nawaz in Faisalabad.
Moreover, Khan also appealed to the public to donate Rs 1.5 billion for establishing ShaukatKhanamHospital in Peshawar, adding that the project would suffer a delay of another year if they fail to raise the required funds.
“We will not take funds from federal and provincial government for the hospital’s Peshawar branch,” said Khan.
He also announced to hold a public rally at D-Chowk on January 17 to pay tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the participants of PTI’s sit-ins.
