Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday met Pakistan-born-British boxer Amir Khan at General’s Headquarters (GHQ).

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Khan expressed solidarity with the families of those that were injured or killed in the Peshawar attack during the meeting with COAS.

Earlier, the boxer laid a wreath on a saint’s shrine and told media that he also prayed for those martyred in the Peshawar carnage. He said he was saddened by the tragedy and would try to visit Peshawar as well.

Khan said that there was no lack of talent in Pakistan, adding that he wanted to dispel the notion that Pakistan was an unsafe country. He also met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the CM house in Lahore on Sunday. The boxer also donated £30K in order to rehabilitate the school and help victims of the Peshawar carnage.

Late Monday, Khan tweeted, “Thanks Gen Asim Bajwa for making it possible to meet COAS and visit Peshawar and Bannu TDP camp. I stand with Pakistan Army to fight against terrorists.”
