The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday submitted an adjournment motion in the Sindh Assembly’s secretariat for debate on timber market fire that gutted scores of residential flats, shops and wood go-downs late on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons at the assembly, MQM’s Khawaja Izharul Hasan said the Pakistan People Party-led Sindh government is solely responsible for the incident. He called for an independent investigation into the fierce blaze that was brought under control after 12 hours, ravaging three multi-storey buildings housing the storehouses, shops and residential apartments. He said MQM has also submitted in the Sindh Assembly secretariat two condemnation resolutions against Peshawar school attack and Maulana Abdul Aziz.
