Senator Bizenjo says his party supports military courts to ensure peace in country, calls for crushing terrorists’ ‘lethal ideology’, says ‘good Taliban’ are ‘tools in hands of Pakistan’s enemies’
National Party (NP) President Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo said Sunday that the government and army forces are paving a way for a peaceful Pakistan so that future generations can prosper, adding that the ongoing war is a test in which “victory is the only option”.
“We are against using torture to end atrocities but we support military operations against terrorists as we ran out of all other options,” said Bizenjo, adding that NP supported military courts to ensure peace “but if these courts disappointed us we will again start our struggle”.
The state can only provide economic, social and cultural rights to its subjects if it survives, he said while speaking at National Advocacy Conferences on International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) organised by National Organization for Working Communities.
The veteran politician said, “We welcome change in the thinking of the establishment which will benefit billions living in the region.”
Bizenjo said that military’s victories boost the nation’s morale but added that “those militants who want to join the mainstream can be given one last chance”.
Bizenjo called upon the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to end the deadlock over election reforms as the nation is passing through a critical phase.
NO GOOD OR BAD TALIBAN:
Moreover, Bizenjo said that the so-called “good Taliban” were tools in the hand of enemies of Pakistan therefore they were also included in “bad Taliban”.
“We must end terrorists as well as their lethal ideology otherwise the war against terrorism will not be won,” he said.
He lashed out at the European Union (EU) and United Nations (UN) for terming Pakistan’s decision to lift the moratorium on capital punishments “unwarranted, ill-timed and groundless”.
The purpose of the National Advocacy Conference was to engage stakeholders in consultative process and follow up with the recommendations of Civil Society Position Paper and proposed National Plan of Action on ICESCR exclusively and to provide a joint platform for interaction among stakeholders including decision makers, political parties, civil society actors. The participants gave proposals for betterment of the situation and provision of basic rights to the people.
