Unknown gunmen targeted the SSP SUU department of Sindh police on Sunday in Clifton area of the city.
According to reports, Navid Khawaja was travelling in his vehicle when bike riders opened fire. The officer remained safe in the attack. Meanwhile, at least two terrorists were killed and several others were rounded up in numerous operations by the law enforcement agencies in Karachi on Sunday.
Police sources said moving on tip-off, they conducted an operation in OrangiTown area of Rahim Shah Colony. At least two saboteurs of a banned outfit were killed in exchange of gunfire with them.
Two hand grenades and two TT pistols were recovered from the possession of terrorists. The bodies were shifted to CivilHospital. Police conducted a search operation in the metropolis area of IttehadTown and collared at least 30 suspected people including foreigners. Two ball bombs were seized from the arrested people.
Seven killed in various mishaps
As many as seven persons were killed and one other injured in separate mishaps in the city on Sunday.
A man, Jamil Ahmed, 54, son of Gul Hassan, was killed and Malik Zeeshan, 24, was injured when their fast moving car collided with other car near Phase 6 Khayban-e-Mohafiz in Defense. The body and the injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy and treatment respectively.
In another incident, Asif, 25, son of Habibullah, was killed in a road accident in Baldia Town 3. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
Yet in another incident, Muhammad Nazir, 18, son of Ali Raza, died when he was working in the factory in SteelTown. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.
Separately, a youth Zohaib, 22, son of Yar Muhammad, was killed when a fast moving vehicle hit him near Defense Library in Defense Morr. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, Alam Ziab, 30, and another 28-year unidentified man were killed when a pole and transformer fell on them within the limits of Mauripur police station. The bodies were shifted to CHK for medico-legal formalities.
Furthermore, a 25-year old unidentified man was killed when his vehicle collided with a dumper-truck near Nestle company along Super Highway. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.
