Five more infants died due lack of treatment facilities in District Hospital Sargodha on Saturday taking 38-day toll to 71.
District Hospital Sargodha has become death trap for newborns as the hospital lacks appropriate facilities.
According to reports, a few central oxygen system and incubators exist in hospital, of which most are out of order.
The investigation team formed by Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has also failed to resolve the issue despite passage of about one a half month.
Earlier, the investigation team holding Medical Superintendent (MS) Sami Iqbal responsible for the negligence had replaced him with Director Health Services Najmul Hasan Kazmi but issue still remains there.
The parents of the deceased have blamed the lack of doctors and negligence of the hospital staff main reasons for deaths. They also criticised the provincial government and health authorities for poor performance and demanded the federal government to take notice of the deaths besides directing strict action against those responsible for loss of 71 precious lives.
