The Emergency and Disasters Management (EDM) wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) managed to quickly control the fire which erupted in Sir Syed Memorial Hall in Sector G-5 on Friday. Twelve people stuck in the building were also rescued, it was reported.
CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal has lauded the performance of firemen and rescuers for timely extinguishing the fire and rescuing the lives of 12 people from the fire in the building.
According to details, the fire erupted in the canteen of the building and expanded to the rooms of Sir Syed Memorial Hall. However, EDM managed to rush to place within four minutes.
Fire extinguishing vehicles of EDM were also joined by the fire fighters of Jinnah Convention Centre. The fire fighting operation was carried out by five rescuers. The reason of the fire could not be identified. However, there are reports that the possible reason of the breakout of the fire was an electrical short circuit.
