An exhibition showcasing Islamic calligraphy by a renowned Chinese artist is on display at Gallery6.

Comprising 27 calligraphic works, the exhibition titled “Revered calligraphy by Chinese” displays rare artwork from the collection of Asad Raza, a US-based collector and consultant on Islamic Arts.

Raza said he has been collecting the artworks for the past three decades, adding that his several trips to China and networking opportunities with prominent calligraphers and Chinese Islamic forums enabled him to compile the collection.

The calligraphy frames displayed on the walls of the gallery varied in sizes from small pieces to very large ones and hade sizes and had beautiful silk borders in different colours.

Many of these artworks are painted by the leading 85 years old Chinese Muslim calligrapher Haji Abdul Hakim whose Chinese name is Haji Liu Jingyi. He is the chairman of Chifeng Islam Association and the imam of the mosque of Chifeng.
