At least six people were killed and over 33 others were injured in fog-related road accidents in various towns, private media reported Friday.

According to police and rescue officials, a bus carrying over a dozen passengers veered off a narrow road, plunging hundreds of feet down into a deep gorge in Lora area near Abbottabad city.

Rescue officials said a woman, her two children and the bus driver lost lives in the incident whereas six others were critically injured.

Local people, with the help of police and rescue personnel, retrieved bodies from the damaged vehicle and shifted the injured to nearby District Hospital Haripur. Rescue was underway for search of more dead and injured in the deep ravine of the hilly area.

Authorities said the driver might have lost control over the vehicle due to dense fog that has badly affected road traffic, especially during night and morning, in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with very low visibility in some areas.

Two separate road accidents, caused by fog, were reported in Faisalabad and Jhang districts of Punjab where two people were killed and seven others were wounded.

Meanwhile, at least 20 passengers were injured when their bus coming from Gwadar town of Balochistan to Karachi overturned near Hub Chowki. The injured were shifted to different hospitals in Karachi.
