Fog in Punjab: Motorway closed, Lahore airport shut down

Fog continues to blanket the plain areas of the province causing trouble to citizens.

The Allama Iqbal International Airport and the motorway on Thursday had been shut down as dense fog enveloped the city.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the fog would continue to cloud the province.

The police have stopped the entry of vehicles into the provincial capital via motorway while the visibility at various places on the highways is zero.

Furthermore, the authorities have advised the people to avoid unnecessary journey and turn their fog-lights on while travelling.

FLIGHT SCHEDULES DISTURBED

Meanwhile, the Allama Iqbal International airport’s operations have also been shut down and the international and domestic flights flying in have been deviated to other airports.

Arrivals and departures of a total of 26 international and 11 domestic flights were delayed while 4 international and 7 domestic flights were cancelled due to heavy fog.

According to airport sources, arrival of 13 international flights and the departure of same number of international flights was delayed, where as 2 departing flights and 2 arriving flights were cancelled.

Five domestic flights flying in and 6 departing flights have been delayed where as 3 arriving and 4 departing flights had to be cancelled due to thick fog that blanketed the city early Thursday morning.
