RPO for traders-police liaison committee

In a meeting with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Syed Asad Mashadi, during his visit to the chambers along with City Police Officer (CPO) Humayun Bashir Tarar in the capital on Monday, Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika assured the composition of a traders-police liaison committee to maintain law and order situation of the city.

Lalika e said that Committee will work as CPLC and it will boost the trust of traders on Police as business community is the main victims of criminal activities. He said that problems faced by the business community would be resolved on priority basis and no stone will be left unturned in this regard. He said that all extortion cases were resolved and if someone was still receiving any kind of threat he must share with the department; it will be given priority as some local elements are involved in such incidents.

Former presidents Sohail Altaf, Najam Rehan, Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Parvez, Vice President Saboor Malik, RCCI Standing Committee Chairman Pervaiz Ahmed Warriach, members’ executive committee and other member of the Chamber were also present on the occasion.

Lalika said that business community is an asset for the country and the security of businessmen is the prime task of the Police. He said that Police alone could do nothing, businessmen and masses must have trust on Police to bring the culprits behind bars. He said that many criminals were able to get bails due to not following the case by the affectees.

Lalika urged the business community to trust Police and come to us with your complaints. He appreciated RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi for providing space and volunteers for Traders’ Police Liaison Committee and ensured his full cooperation to the president RCCI in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi suggested RPO to form a joint team for the security of business centers of the City. He said that Police after clearing private guards should train them and then hand over them to business community for security of main business centers. He said that business community have full confidence in Police and realize that as police had successfully resolved extortion cases, others cases will be solved soon. He further said that RCCI always cooperate with the administration and owing to the deteriorating law & order situation business community is facing immense problems specially kidnapping for ransom has become a routine. He demanded of the government to take stern action against the offenders involved in such incidents.

The RCCI president said that establishment of Traders Police Liaison Committee was the foremost demand of the Rawalpindi Chamber. He said that RCCI is bridging the gap between the government and the business community and playing proactive role for the betterment of the national exchequer so interests of the said community must be safeguarded by the government to promote business activities in the country. He gave the idea of new security system which was appreciated by the RPO and he ensured his full support.

CPO Humayun Bashir Tarar also addressed the gathering and shared the recent achievements of Police with the business community.
