Punjab govt mulls ‘volunteers’ for safer educational institutes

An important meeting been called in Lahore on December 24 to review the security arrangements of educational institutions after the Peshawar attack, in which 150 people, mostly school children were killed.

Talking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly, Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashood said the heads of all education institutions have been summoned for the session on December 24 that would examine and chalk out a security strategy for all educational institutes in Lahore.

Mashood said that a volunteer force of 300,000 volunteers was being formulated to ensure security at the institutes.

Action would be taken against education institutions without adequate security, he added.

He said that the nation is united against terrorism.
