A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday dismissed a bail application of 10 Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers involved in “vandalism and firing on police”.
The bench comprising Justice Abdul Sami Khan and Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan was hearing the bail application.
During the hearing, the applicant’s counsel submitted that the police registered a fake case against the accused for holding peaceful demonstration at Bhera Interchange. He pleaded the court to grant benefit of bail to the accused.
However, a deputy prosecutor told the bench that the accused took the law into their hands and opened fire which claimed the life of a policeman. He further said that the accused approached the LHC without first availing remedy with the trial court. He pleaded the court to dismiss the bail application.
After hearing the arguments, the bench dismissed the bail application of the accused and directed them to approach the trial court.
