20 Afghanis, 97 others arrested in capital

At least 117 suspected people including 20 Afghan citizens were detained by the police during a successful operation in the capital on Monday.

The security arrangements have been tightened up country-wide after the Peshawar attack that killed at least 149 people, mostly children.

As per details, security forces and police officers conducted a search operation in various areas of Islamabad and taken 117 suspected people into custody.

Sources reported that as many as 20 Afghan nationals were among those arrested. The police have revealed that these Afghan nationals were having no legal documents for their stay in Pakistan due to which they were apprehended.

Moreover, security agencies have vowed to continue the search operation till the elimination of last terrorist from the country.

Earlier, a combined search operation of the police, the Rangers and the security agencies on Saturday has lead to an arrest of more than 400 suspected people including foreigners.

In the context of the attack, law enforcement agencies, police and the Rangers officials conducted a combined search operation which led to the detention of more than 300 suspected people from the city.

Foreign identity holders are also included in the arrested people.

The officials also seized illegal weaponry from the possession of different people.

22 OUTLAWS ARRESTED:

In the meanwhile, the Islamabad Police arrested 22 people including three beggars from various areas of the city and seized 1.1 kilogrammes of hashish, 610 grams of heroin, three guns and looted items from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.

According to details, Ramna Police arrested Kashif, Tayyab and Khizar Hayat involved in a robbery. Kohsar Police apprehended Sajid and seized stolen items from him while Adil was nabbed for having fake currency.

The CIA police team arrested a lady accused Khalida and recovered 610 grams of heroin from her. Bani Gala Police arrested Ali and recovered one 30-bore pistol from him. Shahzad Town Police arrested seven people for their alleged involvement in encroachment.

Koral Police arrested three accused namely Najeeb, Meraj Gull and Sohail Ahmed besides seizing 1.1 kilogrammes of hashish, and two 30-bore pistol along with ammunition from their possession.

Sihala Police arrested two accused Zulqunain and Saneel for having dagger and looted item from their possession. Furthermore police arrested three beggars involved in professional alms-seeking.

Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them.
