SC dismisses Shaukat Aziz’s plea against treason case verdict

The Supreme Court has dismissed former prime minister Shaukat Aziz’s petition against the Special Court decision in the treason case against former dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf.

The SC raised objections over the petition filed by the former premier against the Special Court’s decision which had directed the government to take action against Aziz, former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Abdul Hameed Dogar and former law minister Zahid Hamid besides Musharraf.

Aziz had filed the petition through his counsel Wasim Sajjad in the SC while Dogar and Hamid had filed petitions against the Special Court decision in Islamabad High Court.

The SC registrar said that interim judgment of Special Court could not be challenged in the SC and therefore Aziz could not file the petition in the SC. He also said that no direct petition could be filed against special court’s decision.

Moreover, he added that necessary documents had not been attached with Aziz’s petition.

Aziz’s counsel said that the petition would be filed again soon after removing the objections raised by SC registrar.
