Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) on Sunday filed a case against Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz for threatening MQM chief Altaf Hussain, private media reported.
In the First Investigation Report (FIR) has been filed against Aziz for allegedly threatening Hussain in one of his sermons. He has also been accused of terrorism, provoking violence and cyber crime.
The FIR was registered in Azizabad police station on complaint of MQM’s Arif Khan Advocate. MQM leaders, including Dr. Farooq Sattar, Amir Khan, Haider Abbas Rizwi, were also present.
Qamar Mansoor, while speaking to media, said his party would stage protest demonstration in Karachi today against murder threat hurled by Aziz on Altaf Hussain.
He demanded of army chief General Raheel Sharif to expand the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency to other parts of country.
The MQM chief had earlier called for the arrest of Aziz for ‘sympathising with the Taliban’.
The Lal Masjid was slammed by his critics after he allegedly refused to condemn the Peshawar school attack which left at least 149 people dead, mostly student.
A case was registered against the cleric following a protest by civil society members.
Those guilty of promoting violence and insurrection against their own country should be removed from positions of influencing young minds…for a government employee to work against the very government that pays him is ridiculous…he should be sacked from his position and replaced immediately…
