We’ll stamp out terrorism from country, says Mamnoon

President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday reiterated his stance that the government was fully committed to stamp out menace of terrorism from the country with effective legal and security measures.

Talking to media, the president expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the Peshawar tragedy and said such issues have given the nation new aspirations and spirits to tackle all ills and evils with the firm determination of eliminating them.

“The whole nation is ready to remove this menace forever and to target its root causes,” he added.

“As a result of such incidents, the whole nation gets united and the few who previously believed that these elements could be persuaded have also changed their opinion about them (terrorists),” said Mamnoon.

The president said that the government is working upon a number of pieces of legislation to provide security to the witnesses in such cases, expedite proceedings and swiftly dispose off such cases.

The president said that the whole world had also recognised that Pakistan is greatly affected by terrorism. He underscored the importance of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, saying it was launched to end the scourge of terrorism from the country and assured the nation that all efforts would be made to purge all terrorists from the country.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has also expressed his strong commitment for close cooperation with Pakistan over the issue of terrorism, he added.

He said that no Muslim could indulge in such inhumane activities by blasting in sacred places, adding that these “strayed elements” walking the wrong path also lose guidance of Almighty Allah as their end is imminent.

Appreciating the courage of injured students, the president advised them to pursue highest ideals of education and morality by constant struggle and sincerity as they would have to perform miracles for the country and Islam in future.
