The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) Friday demanded immediate justice to the culprits of Peshawar carnage. The death penalty should be implemented as soon as possible as it would deter potential recruits from engaging in militancy.
Those who imposed a ban of hangings in 2008 should also be held accountable as they helped embolden terrorists, said PEW President Dr Murtaza Mughal.
He said that ‘good Taliban, bad Taliban’ policy should be abandoned ad it will result in selective justice compromising government hostile approach to all militants. Pakistan should not worry about risking diplomatic and economic gains including GSP Plus+ as national security was more important than interests of textile exporters, he added.
Dr Murtaza Mughal said the EU should not interfere in the internal matters of Pakistan while Islamabad should discount their concerns in the larger national interest.
The government can convince the European Union that Pakistan has no other option but to hang the convicted terrorists as national security is at stake.
