National Action Plan Committee to meet today

PTI replaces Shah Mahmood Qureshi with Shireen Mazari, Sheikh Rashid will also be there

The first meeting of the National Action Plan Committee will be held today (Friday) at 4pm in the Parliament House.

The meeting will be chaired by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. Reportedly, Abdul Qadir Baloch will be the other member from the government’s side.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had first nominated PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi but later PTI Chairman Imran Khan resplaced him with PTI Information Secretary Shireen Mazari.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has nominated Akram Durrani while Jamaat-e-Islami has named Sahibzada Tariqullah and Fareed Paracha as its representatives.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed will represent the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) while Qamar Zaman Kaira and former interior minister Rehman Malik will speak for the Pakistan People’s Party.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has nominated Farooq Sattar and Babar Ghauri for the National Action Plan Committee, while Sheikh Rashid will also be there to represent his Awami Muslim League along with Qaumi Watan Party’s Aneesa Zaib.

Earlier, the establishment of the National Action Plan Committee was decided in the emergency meeting called by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Peshawar after the tragic incident that killed at least 148 people including, mostly children.

The Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies would also be a part of the committee.

The committee will form a National Action Plan within seven days and present it to the government.

After its approval from the leadership, the plan will be put forth before the nation.
