FDE directs AEOs to ensure schools’ security

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has directed all the area education officers (AEOs) to ensure maximum security measures in the educational institutions of their respective areas.

FDE spokesman Tahir Bhatti said the notification issued by the authorities on Wednesday clearly stated that the heads of the institutions concerned would be responsible to obtain and retain record of private transporters providing pick and drop service to the students in their institutions.

All gatekeepers would be in proper uniform during duty while metal detectors would be provided to the duty officials.

Visiting hours must be strictly observed and nobody should be allowed to enter the premises of institutions without identification. The school gates may remain closed to avoid any mishap and an information desk may be created at the main gate of the institution to facilitate the public.

It has been notified that gatekeepers where needed may be adjusted temporarily and for permanent adjustment, if any, proposal may be submitted to FDE.

The gatekeepers must be deployed at the entrance for the whole duty time, in case of exigency, other employee may be assigned the same duties.
