Chinese mourn victims of Peshawar school tragedy

The Chinese community based in the federal capital at a condolence meeting have expressed sympathy and solidarity with innocent victims of Peshawar school tragedy.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong and his wife, embassy staff and the community members, including engineers and workers working on different projects in Pakistan, attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador said, “We have gathered here to express condolences with the families of victims and the injured.” He said the Chinese president, prime minister and foreign minister in their messages to their Pakistani counterparts expressed the deepest condolences and sympathies with the victim families.

Condemning the terrorist attack in harsh terms, he said the people and government of China were shocked and saddened over the tragic incident.

“China stands with Pakistan in this hour of grief and will continue to render firm support to the people and government in fight against terrorism and extremism,” he added.

The participants of the meeting observed silence for some time and laid wreaths to pay respect to the martyred and express solidarity with the injured. They also contributed donations for the victim families.
