Mobile phone imports up by 3.23pc in 4 months

The mobile phone imports into the country increased by 3.23 percent during first four months of the year 2014-15 over the same period of last year.

The imports of mobile phones into the country during July-October (2014-15) were recorded at $224.594 million against the imports of $217.568 million during July-October (2013-14), according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On month on month basis the mobile phone imports into the country during the month of October 2014 decreased by 3.37 percent and increased by 15.26 percent when compared to the imports in October 2013 and September 2014 respectively.

The mobile phone imports during October 2014 stood at $58.596 million against the imports of $60.641 million in October 2013 and $50.839 million in September 2014, the data revealed.

Similarly, the overall telecom imports also increased by 25.37 percent during the period under review over the same period of last year.

The imports of telecom into the country during first four months of current fiscal year were recorded at $524.81 million against the imports of $418.611 million in July-October 2014-15.

On month on month basis, the telecom imports during October 2014 increased by 9.16 percent and decreased by 7.53 percent when compared to that of October 2013 and September 2014 respectively.

Overall telecom imports during October 2014 stood at $117.99 million against the imports of $108.087 million in October 2013 and $127.601 million in September 2014.
