IG KP vows to conduct thorough investigation

PESHAWAR-

Inspector General (IG) Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) Nasir Durrani on Thursday vowed to conduct thorough investigation of the deadly terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar, private media reported.

Speaking to media, Durrani said that KP police is determined to overcome its  inefficiency to combat terrorism.

He further said that the crime scene of Peshawar school attack  has countless objects and specialised forensic teams are collecting evidence for further investigation.

Talking about the development in investigation, Durrani said that the investigation team is currently working on the available evidence  and leads coming from initial investigations  extend beyond the country’s border.

The 0police chief further said that  masses must be aware and vigilant as  militants have penetrated the society.

“At present, the issue that everyone needs to understand is that we are in a state of war; we are fighting militancy, and all stakeholders and organisations must come together to fight. Not only organisations but masses must unite to fight as well, as this is everybody’s war,” he said.

According to the military sources, militants had been in contact with their handler in Afghanistan, Umar Naray, alias Umar Khalifa Adinzai – a well-known commander of the TTP’s Tariq Geedar group who was giving instructions to them.

Responding to a question whether the attack occurred due to a security lapse on the part of police personnel or armed forces, the KP police chief said that everyone was responsible for the loss and people must unite and forget whose failure it was.

“Armed forces are also fighting gallantly in Khyber,” Durrani said.

Speaking about the role of police, he said approximately 4-5 policemen are martyred every week.

He also affirmed that KP police will trace the companions of terrorist regardless of whether they are present in a different city.
