Ban on death penalty had already expired, says ex-CJP

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP),Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday said that there was already no ban on implementation of death penalty in the country, a private news channel reported.

Speaking to media outside Lady reading Hospital after visiting injured children in Peshawar school attack, ex-CJP said that the concerned ordinance has already been expired.

“There was already no ban on death penalty in Pakistan, so it’s responsibility of the government to ensure early implementation of capital punishment,” he said.

One day earlier,  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced to lift moratorium on capital punishment.

  1. Aftr this disclosure, what heart do we have to say to these leaders ? even our sleeping judiciary did not have the guts to wake our leaders ? that means we are all responsible for the mess we are in…that is proved now.
