The lawyers Wednesday completely boycotted the legal proceedings in the Sindh High Court and subordinate courts and took out protest rally against the Peshawar school massacre.

The SHC and city courts wore deserted look as the lawyers stayed away from the courts and police did not produce the under trial prisoners. Due to the boycott, hundreds of the cases listed for the hearing could not be taken up which caused inconvenience to litigants who had come to the courts to pursue their cases.

Hundreds of the lawyers offered funeral prayers in absentia of Peshawar school martyrs at the MA Jinnah Road and then they marched towards Karachi Press Club where held protest demonstration.

On Tuesday, Sindh Bar Council endorsing the call of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) had appealed to Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) and district bar associations across Sindh to observe strike and hold condolence reference for people who lost their lives in brutal assault on army-run school.

Following the request of SHCBA, SHC chief justice had suspended legal proceedings in SHC.

The general body meetings of Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) and Karachi Bar Association were also held to condemn the incident. They also adopted resolutions, which said the federal and provincial government and security agencies have failed to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. They called for foolproof security at the public places particularly education and religious institutions so that such incidents may not be repeated and lives of the public be protected. They asked the government to pay adequate compensation to the bereaved families.
