Khan’s nephew collared after attack on Fazl in London

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s nephew Hasan Niazi was taken into custody after he purportedly tried to attack Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in London.

According to reports, Niazi, who tried to attack Fazl shortly after his speech to the House of Common, was cleared by the Met Police after brief interrogation. However, Pakistan’s High Commission in London has said that a criminal case would be registered over the attack on Fazl.

Niazi has claimed that he was slapped by the JUI-F chief for using his right to protest. He asserted, “It is my right to protest. I utilised my democratic right. I did nothing wrong. I was just using my democratic right to protest. Nothing more.”

The sources said Niazi was collared for raising slogans against the JUI-F chief who was at the moment being accompanied by high commissioner and deputy high commissioner.

The PTI chief’s nephew was earlier nailed while he was part of a protest against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in London.

The JUI-F has meanwhile severely criticised the attack on Fazl who is on an official visit to Britain as the chairman of the Kashmir Committee of the Parliament.

Separately, talking to journalists, Fazl questioned the objectives behind sit-ins and protests. He said no one can allow raising contemptuous language against the elders but emphasised that he was bearing this with patience.
