The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought the complete investigation report into Kot Radha Kishan case during which a Christian couple was tortured and then burnt to death over false blasphemy charges. The court also ordered police authorities to arrest the officers who witnessed the entire incident yet they failed in rescuing the hapless couple.

While hearing the Kot Radha Kishan case, the three-member bench led by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk expressed dissatisfaction over the report submitted by the police and ordered the Superintendent of Police (Investigation) to present the complete investigation report at the next hearing besides taking stern action against Maulvi Noor Hassan and Arshad Baloch for provoking the people.

The CJP asked why didn’t the armed police officers resort to aerial firing to disperse the crowd. “The mob could have dispersed had the police opened fire,” he said, dismissing the report submitted by the district police officer and the regional police officer.

He said that complete details and facts have not been highlighted in the report. “It is because of the police’s negligence that the tragic incident occurred,” he said.

The court ordered to begin criminal and departmental proceedings against the police officers. The chief justice adjourned the court until January 13 and ordered the DPO Kasur to present detailed report in next hearing.
