Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday evening to commiserate the deaths of 141 people, including 132 students, who were killed in a dastardly terrorist attack on the ArmyPublic School in Peshawar.

Modi called the attack “an extremely sad incident” and expressed India’s support to its neighbouring country in this hour of grief. He said that there was no justification for terrorism and condemned the Taliban attack on innocent schoolchildren in the strongest possible terms.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani also telephoned Prime Minister Sharif and expressed grief over the tragic incident. He stressed for more coordinated efforts against terrorism on both sides of the border to eliminate the menace from its roots.

Separately, President Mamnoon Hussain received a telephone call from his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who also condoled the brutal killings in Peshawar.

  1. Modi's phone call is an action of a great man – in grief all our differences disappear, we are there for each other – that's what good neighbours are for!
