Many thoroughfares of the city were caught in a massive traffic gridlock on Monday evening ensnaring thousands of motorists.
Severe traffic congestions were reported from MA Jinnah Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shaheed-e-Millat Road, II Chundrigar Road, Hassan Square, Qayumabad Chowrangi, Korangi Road, making it difficult for commuters to reach their destination.
Long queues of cars could also be seen on Shahrah-e-Pakistan and Signal Free Corridor-II on Rashid Minhas Road from Aladdin park to Nipa Chowrangi and then onwards to Nagin Chowrangi.
There was little presence of traffic police on the roads, those who were present were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of traffic. There were reports that some criminal elements had taken to looting people who were stranded in traffic.
The traffic flow could not be eased until 11pm.
