Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali Monday sought a detailed report about the security plan developed for the people of Lyari by Karachi Police.
The IGP registering his serious reservation about recent incidents of clashes among gangsters in Lyari, directed the Karachi AIGP to share with him the contingency plan developed to address the situation.
He has also asked the DIG-South to take a fresh stock of human resource, logistical support, provision for arms and ammunition allocated to each of the police check-posts established in the area, said a spokesman of police department.
Capacities and capabilities of the cops and officers designated at entry and exit points, to and from Lyari, along with those assigned with the responsibility to picket and patrol the areas was directed to be reviewed.
The DIG-South has been also asked to dispatch a report about the professional capacities and personal capabilities of the cops serving in Lyari, added the spokesman. He said special directives have been issued to the Karachi police to strengthen and streamline the intelligence collection and sharing procedures.
