IHC admits petition against detention orders of Shuhada Foundation spokesman

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has admitted for hearing a petition filed against issuance of detention order of Shuhada Foundation of Pakistan (SFP) spokesman by Islamabad deputy commissioner (DC) in connection with Jamia Hafsa’s pro-Islamic State (IS) video message case.

A single bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kansi took up for hearing the SFP case Monday.

Tariq Asad, counsel for SFP spokesman Ehtishamul Haq appeared in court and took the plea that the DC has issued orders for detention of his client for one month in connection with the “video message sent by girls students of Jamia Hafsa to the IS”. Police and other security agencies are harassing the SFP spokesman and others, he said.

The court admitted the petition for preliminary hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case for two days.

Islamabad inspector general Police (IGP) Islamabad, interior secretary, Islamabad DC and Koral Police Station station house officer (SHO) have been made respondents in the petition.
