Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that PTI’s shutdown of Lahore on Monday (today) is a continuity of the party’s “politics of aggression” which have caused immense loss to the country’s economy.
Talking to a private TV channel, Shahbaz said it was the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order and protect lives and assets of masses and “the government would fulfill its responsibilities”.
“What sort of service PTI Chairman Imran Khan wanted to deliver to the nation by jamming cities?” Even the enemies of the country could not play the role played by Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri, alleged Shahbaz.
Shahbaz said that rigging allegations against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were baseless because the interim set-up was made by the government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
“The prime minister has already sent a letter to the Supreme Court calling for investigation of the allegations,” said Shahbaz.
He expressed confidence that the government would complete its tenure because it was serving the masses well.
Shahbaz alleged that those who get loans waived off, including PTI leader Jahangir Tareen, were gathered around Khan, adding that PTI had done “record corruption” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that investigation of the ModelTown incident was underway, adding that those responsible for the Faisalabad incident would also be brought to book.
