Govt claims PTI road blockade led to three deaths

LAHORE-

Punjab Health Department  on Monday claimed that three patients lost their lives in Lahore due to road blockades across the city during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, private media reported.

Salman Rafique, advisor to Chief Minister on Health said that two ambulances; carrying a 17-day-old infant and a 15-year-old boy could not reach the hospital on time due to the protest and died on the road  in Shahdara area.

He added that a heart patient on his way to the hospital in a rickshaw was barred at Joray Bridge of Lahore. He also died on his way to the hospital.

Meanwhile, PTI Spokesperson Shireen Mazari ruled out the alleged death of patients, claiming that the ambulance was not carrying any patient but a child’s dead body, and that the vehicles were not stopped from moving to hospital.
