National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Monday filed a contempt of court petition against the tribunal judge Justice Kazim Ali Malik in Lahore High Court(LHC) in the wake of vote recount in NA-122 constituency , private media reported.
The NA speaker requested LHC in his petition to reject the vote recount plea of Imran Khan , declaring it illegal.
Sadiq, in his petition, also said that the judge has committed contempt of court as the decision of vote recount is against the Supreme Court’s orders.
Previously, an election tribunal had accepted Khan’s request for opening ballot bags in NA-122 to investigate allegations of rigging.
NA-122 is one of the four constituencies where the PTI had sought a recount and verification of voters’ thumb impressions. Sadiq had defeated Khan in the 2013 general elections and the PTI had challenged the results.
