Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Culture and Tourism Sharmila Farooqui on Sunday lauded the acquittal of former president Asif Ali Zardari in Ursus tractors and ARY cases and termed it the triumph of justice and democracy.
Ex-president Zardari never compromised on principles of politics and democracy and that is why he is still supporting democracy in Pakistan with full might. He was trapped in these cases in a bid to weaken democratic rule. Only democracy will bring real revolution in Pakistan,” said Sharmila in a statement.
She said the PPP had roots in democracy and it would continue to support it with all its stakeholders. “Those conspiring to derail democracy will soon meet defeat. Democracy cannot be derailed by few thousand people. The prevailing anti-democracy conspiracies will not be tolerated anymore because Pakistan cannot afford such anti-democracy protests which are continuously harming business and social activities,” she said.
She said Pakistan would continue playing its role for promotion of human, cultural and democratic values. “We are building a nation that will accelerate its progress towards prosperity by promoting education, research, science and technology and peace,” she said.
“The PPP wants continuity of democracy because it is the only sources for economic and social stability of Pakistan. The role of media is vital for a stable democratic system in the country. Those talking against the PPP are politically immature as the Pakistan’s future belongs to the PPP only,” Sharmila asserted.
“The PPP is still largest political party of Pakistan because of its great sacrifices rendered by Bhutto family. Its blood lies in democracy and no one can be able to derail it again. The PPP gave a vote of confidence to Nawaz Sharif so that he could boost democratic institutions in real manner,” Sharmila concluded.
