Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Sunday alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was maligning democracy, government and other institutions.

Talking to PTV News, the minister said if the practice of invading and attacking the system was established in the country, then attention from all other important issues, including terrorism, would divert.

Rashid emphasized that general election 2013 was the fairest and transparent in the country’s history, as for the first time voter lists having voter pictures were used.

If there was any deficiency or irregularity in the election then all the political parties should work collectively to remove them, he added. He said even in countries like the United States, there were some complaints of irregularities in elections.

Rashid urged Khan to come to the Parliament and play his part, if he wanted some amendments in the Constitution.

The PTI chief, he said, wanted to topple the government instead of rectifying the system, as his party was not even taking any interest in electoral reforms committee.

Regarding the report of NADRA about five polling stations of NA 125, the minister said PTI’s Hamid Khan had won from there. He said 70 per cent complaints regarding electoral irregularities had been disposed off by the election tribunals.
