Customs Intelligence chalks out plan to monitor goods transport companies

The Customs Intelligence officials have chalked out a foolproof plan to monitor the activities of the goods transport companies in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts besides further tightening noose around them.

According to the senior officials, this direly needed step was being taken following the involvement of various goods transport companies in smuggling of the goods and other valuables.

They said the people from Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa were booking their goods through these goods transport companies as these goods were coming through smuggling. They disclosed that the smugglers were smuggling the valuables including auto parts, computer parts, imported clothes, tyres, tea, mobile phones, LCDs, LEDs etc from Afghanistan and they further send these smuggled valuables after booking them for different districts of the Punjab through the goods transport companies.

The special teams of the Customs Intelligence have started checking these goods transport companies. The officials revealed that the goods transport companies if found indulged in such kind of smuggling would be brought to task.

Meanwhile, the owners of the goods transport companies have expressed grave concern over this step by the Customs Intelligence. They said they were not doing any illegally activity nor the management of any goods transport company was involved in smuggling.
