The Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected the bail application of District and Sessions Judge Sikandar Ali Lashari, who had been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of Aqib Shahani, son of his fellow judge.
Aqib Shahani, son of District and Sessions Judge, Jacobabad, Khalid Hussain Shahani, was gunned down on Thandi Sarak in Hyderabad on February 19. Following the incident, an FIR (12/2014) was lodged on complaint of victim’s cousin against unknown culprits with GOR police station Hyderabad.
The victim’s family had alleged that Aqib was killed at the behest of Sikandar Ali Lashari, District and Sessions Judge Tharparkar at Mithi, because he was in love with Sikandar’s daughter but the judge allegedly opposed their marriage. Later, the judge was arrested by Hyderabad police on March 24.
The counsel for Lashari submitted in the application that Lashari was a respectable citizen and had served as judge almost throughout his professional life. Neither his name was mentioned in the FIR not any iota of evidence was available against him to corroborate allegations of his involvement in the commission of crime, he said, adding he was implicated in the murder case at the behest of DIG Hyderabad Sanaullah Abbasi and SSP Hyderabad Pir Farid Jan Sarhani as DIG Hyderabad was relative of the complainant party who was taking revenge at their behest. He said the prosecution had failed to make out case against him and established totally false and fabricated evidence. Hence, he requested the court to release him on bail.
