New CEC seeks ‘unauthorised’ Prado

In a summary to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought a new 3000cc Prado for Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Raza Khan despite the fact that according to service rules, the CEC is only authorised to have a 1600cc to 1800cc car.

The reason stated for seeking the Prado is that the new CEC requires it for “field work”. He will reportedly keep the authorised vehicle with him too.

According to a private news channel, PM Secretariat officials confirmed receiving the summary but said that PM Nawaz Sharif has not yet made the decision to grant a Prado to the CEC.

Justice Khan was recently appointed the new CEC after the post remained vacant for more than a year.
