ISLAMABAD-

The Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan expressed its concerns on the US Senate’s report on Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)’s torture of detainees on Thursday, private media reported.

During the foreign office’s weekly briefing spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam said that the United States must ensure the transparency of the steps taken to combat terrorism.

Condemning the US Intelligence Committee report on the CIA’ s torturing  methods  to seek information from terror suspects after the attacks of September 11 she said, “Pakistan deplores the Senate report on CIA torture of detainees. It is violation of international laws.”

She further said “although there are no specific nationalities mentioned, however, we have noted that the US government has assured that this would not occur again.”

Reacting to the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Suraj‘s outrageous statement over involvement of China in infrastructure projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Aslam said that Pakistan would not stop its ongoing projects in AJK as Pakistan has not objected to any development project in Indian-held Kashmir.

Previously, India had criticized China over its involvement in AJK’s infrastructure projects especially an economic corridor in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Talking about the 17-year-old Malala’s winning of Nobel Peace Prize the spokeswoman said that Pakistan is proud of Malala’s victory but added that the activist cannot come back to Pakistan due to security threats to her life.

Aslam welcomed the statement of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to play his role in resolving Kashmir dispute.

“Final settlement of this issue must be through plebiscite and in accordance with the wishes of people of Kashmir,” Aslam remarked.

Foreign Office spokeswoman also condemned the killing of Palestinian Cabinet Minister by Israeli forces on Wednesday. She declared it an  unprecedented act of brutality . Talking bout the killing of innocent people of Palestine she said that UN, OIC and international community should play their due role in this regard.
