Motorway cop killed, three smugglers arrested

An official of the Motorway Police was killed while three cloth smugglers were arrested at the Burhan Interchange on Thursday.

According to reports, the guards and customs intelligence officials stopped a car for checking at the Burhan Interchange of the motorway. The occupants of the car opened fire during which Constable Riaz was killed.

After the incident, police and customs intelligence personnel chased the car and arrested three accused and recovered arms and smuggled clothes. However, two other occupant of the car managed to escape.

On the request of the customs, police launched the search operation in the surrounding areas and the Interchange was also closed temporarily.

OUTLAWS ARRESTED:

In the meanwhile, the Islamabad Police arrested eight outlaws including three car thieves and seized five motorbikes, weapons, 120 wine bottles and looted items from their possession, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

According to details, anti-car lifting cell of Islamabad Police apprehended Gharaib Khan and recovered one motorbike from him.

The CIA Police arrested a proclaimed offender while two other accused Jamshed Khan and Raza were arrested besides recovery of four motorbikes, registration books and tempering equipment from them.

Margallah Police arrested a thief Sameul Masih while Industrial Area Police arrested Sabir Khan for selling petroleum products illegally. Sabzi Mandi Police arrested Rozi Gul for having 30-bore pistol while a bootlegger Shabbir was apprehended by Shehzad Town Police besides recovery of 120 wine bottles from him. Cases have been registered against these arrested persons.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Police arrested eight professional alms-seekers and registered cases against them.
