At least seven more children died in famine-struck Thar on Tuesday, mounting the death toll to 159 in 69 days.

The deceased children included a 21-day old Ramesh, Qeemat and a four-month old Resham who died at civil hospital Mithi.

Scarcity of food, water and medicine shrunk the survival chances. Children continue to die in Civil Hospital Mithi and ChachroHospital whereas no substantial measures were being taken to counter the situation.

According to reports 60, 000 affected families of Thar await wheat aid which speaks of administration’s sheer inefficiency.

On the other hand many civil society organizations say that the assistance is not being properly handled and not reaching the deserving people due to inefficiency of the administration.
