An important meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) will be held in the federal capital on Wednesday (today) with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk in the chair.
The meeting will give approval for appointment of new CJ of Federal Shariah Court (FSC), four judges each for Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Balochistan High Court (BHC).
Sources said that the meeting will look into the proposal of appointing Justice Anwar Kansi as CJ of FSC who is earlier serving as CJ of IHC. The position fell vacant after appointment of Justice (r) Sardar Muhammad Raza as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
If Justice Anwar Kansi’s name was approved for CJ of FSC then senior judge Justice Noorul Qureshi will replace him as CJ of IHC. The SJC will also give approval of appointment of four judges each for IHC and BHC on seniority basis.
The meeting will be attended by CJs of the four high courts, Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed, provincial law ministers, federal secretary law, Justice (r) Muhammad Raza and other senior judicial and civil officials.
