LAHORE-
Following submission of evidence of alleged rigging in NA-122 Lahore in May 2013 elections by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan, an election tribunal on Monday accepted Khan’s request to open the ballot bags for verification of votes, private media reported.
The tribunal judge Kazim Ali Malik rejected Khan’s opponent Ayaz Sadiq’s request against opening the bags for verification and ordered to verify voting records in NA-122.
In May 2013 elections, Khan was defeated by Ayaz Sadiq in NA-122. Khan’s party had challenged the results, alleging rigging and demanding a recount. NA-122 is one of the four constituencies where PTI had demanded a recount of votes.
The PTI chief had submitted evidence against Sadiq and recorded his statement in the tribunal on Saturday.
