Student thrashed, arrested for booing PML-N leader Hamza with ‘Go Nawaz Go’ chants at inaugural ceremony of Chrysanthemum exhibition

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was faced with a difficult situation on Thursday when two students from Layyah suddenly started raising slogans of “Go Nawaz Go” as Hamza returned from the inaugural ceremony of Gul-e-Dawoodi exhibition at Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore.

Two students from Layyah, Muhammad Farhan and Arif Aziz Qureshi, suddenly started raising “Go Nawaz Go” slogans. Reacting to the slogans, PML-N workers present on the occasion also started raising “Go Imran Go” slogans but PML-N leaders silenced them.

Hamza left the scene but police caught Arif Aziz Qureshi and shifted him to Civil Lines Police Station after beating him up. However, the other student succeeded in fleeing the scene.

‘FAILURE IS KHAN’S DESTINY’:

Earlier, speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Hamza said that the government wanted to create trade opportunities by setting up Kashgar to Gwadar economic corridor but the “enemies of progress want to hamper the process of development and prosperity”.

Urging Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to negotiate with the government, Hamza said, “If PTI workers try to take law into their hands they will be dealt with sternly by law enforcing agencies.”

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken a practical step to bring change in KP with the decision to construct Hazara Motorway at a cost of Rs33 billion, said the PML-N leader.

Earlier, Hamza visited the stalls of different varieties of flowers at the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of organisers.

“Lahore is called the city of gardens and the government has retrieved land from qabza groups to revive the old beauty of Lahore,” he said.
