Iranian speaker Dr Larijani for eliminating ‘evil forces’ on joint border, assures support for ending load shedding
Pakistan and Iran can play an important role in improving economy and security of their region and their strong bilateral relations can serve as role model for other countries to follow, said National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq while welcoming the Iranian Speaker Dr Ali Larijani who is visiting Pakistan along with a parliamentary delegation.
On the arrival at the Parliament House, the delegation was received by Sadiq and senior officer of the National Assembly. Dr Ali Larijani planted a sapling in the lawn of the Parliament House and met the speaker in a one-to-one meeting where both the parliamentary leaders discussed the matters of mutual interest.
Sadiq said that two countries share same view on the regional and international issues and want resolution of regional and international conflicts. He also stressed on the need to forge unity among the Muslim world and improve and strengthen the democratic institutions.
Responding to these remarks, Dr Larijani welcomed Pakistan friendship and termed the Pak-Iran border as border of friendship. Iran is committed to help Pakistan rebuild its economy and would explore all potential to improve volume of import and export between the two brotherly countries, he added.
Dr Larijani further assured Pakistan of full support in eradicating the menace of load shedding in Pakistan and providing electricity, oil and gas along with petro-chemical products. Referring to regional security, both leaders agreed to support each other and resolve to find solution.
“Long border of friendship is being damaged by few evil forces while both countries should fight jointly. These evil forces wish to divide the Muslim world. The radical forces are serving the interests of an evil power. We wish to resolve issues peacefully and in fighting is not natural to the Muslims,” said the Iranian speaker, who also stressed the need to eradicate terrorism from the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi informed the meeting that gas pipeline will be completed in two years. The parliamentary leaders of major political parties were present on the occasion.
Later, both the speaker signed an MoU regarding greater cooperation between the two parliaments for further strengthening of democratic and parliamentary Institutions. The Iranian speaker and his delegation was accorded warm welcome and were cordially received by Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi and senior officers of the National Assembly on their arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, Rawalpindi, this morning.
